Turns out I made the right choice, it fits snug enough that it stayed on the whole 6mi walk even when the dog frequently runs through the thick brush. This vest is excellent and literally saved my dogs life this weekend. He got out the front door as we were getting ready to go for a walk and ran out to play in the snowy field across the street. There was a car coming and thankfully they saw him and were able to stop, because of the vest. He is the same color as the snow and it was sunset, it's very unlikely they would have seen him otherwise. I am so thankful I had the forethought to order the vest for him.
